ADDINGTON MARKET.

(Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, January 9. Small entries were again the rule today in all the major sections of stock. The result was a general advance in both beef and mutton values. Store sheep sold'particularly well, but fat lambs were not in such keen demand, except for the prime sorts. Store Sheep.—There was a small entry for this time of the year. First store lambs of the season and best rape sorts made to 27s Id, others 25s and over. Dry sheep sold firmly at last week’s rates to better. Values were:—Best three-quar-terbred ewe lambs, to 26s 6d; best threequarterbred wether lambs, to 25s 3d; best rape lambs, 25s to 275; ordinary rape lambs, to '24b; cull lambs, 20s to 21s 6d; good halfbred wethers, 26s to 275; ordinary halfbred wethers, to 255; ordinary crossbred _ wethers, to 25s 6d; ordinary six and eight-tooth halfbred ewes, to 26s 4d; halfbred ewes and lambs, to ,20s; best crossbred ewes and lambs, to 255; ordinary two-tooth crossbred ewes, to 275. Fat Lambs.—An entry of 1450, under the average number for this time of the year. Mixed quality good lambs sold well, unfinished lines being cheaper. Extra prime lambs sold to 36s lOd; prime 31s to 33s 6d; medium, 28s to 30s 6d; light, 20s to 27s 9d. Fat Sheep.—There was a very small entry, seven and eight races. It was a keen sale, good sheep being up by Is a head. bought practically the whole of the yarding. Wethers made from 7d to 7|d per lb; extra prime heavy wethers, to 42s 3d; prime wethers, 34s 6d to 38s; medium wethers, 31s 6d to 345; light wethers, 27s 6d to 31s; extra prime ewes, to 36s 7d; prime ewes, 31s to 33s 6d; medium ewes, 27s 6d to 30s 6d; light ewes, 23s 6d to 275; aged ewes, 19s to 235. . Fat Cattle.—There was another small entry of 362 head, the bulk being cows. It was a keen sale, all good classes showing a further advance of 25s to 30s a head, other classes 20s. Best beef made in a few cases to 54s per 1001 b. Good prime made from 60s to 535;, heavy steers, 42s 6d to 455; medium quality, 44s to 475; good cow, 43s to 41s; and rough, down to 32s 6d; extra prime heavy steers, to £25 17s 6d; prime heavy steers, £2l 10s to £23 10s; medium-weight form steers, £lB 10s to £2O 10s; medium quality steers, £ls 10s to £18; light steers, £l2 10s to £l4' 10s; extra prime heifers, to £l7 2s 6d; prime heifers, £l4 to' £l6; ordinary heifers, £l2 to £l3 15s; light heifers, £8 to £ll 10s; extra prime cows, to £lB 12s 6d; prime cows, £l3 to £ls 10s; ordinary cows, £ll to £l2 16s; light and aged cows, £7 15s to £lO 15s. Vealers.—There was a small entry and a good sale. Twelve to 18-month sorts made to £8; vealers, £3 16s to £7 2s 6d; calves, 15s to £2O 17s 6d. Store Cattle,—There was a small mixed entry and a good sale. Two to three-year steel’s sold to £lO Is; 18-months heifers, £5 16s; good cows, £5 to £8 10s; others, 30s to £4 15s; bulls, £3 to £9 Is. Dairy Cattle.—There was a keen demand, best second to fourth calvers sold at £ll to £l6 10s; medium, £8 10s to £lO 10s; others, £6 to £8; extra good heifers, to £l6 10s; ’good heifers, £0 to £l2 10s; small and backward, £7 to £8 10s; late calvers, £8 to £l2. Fat Pigs.—There was a fair demand, porkers being better. Choppers sold from £1 to £4 18s 6d; baconers, £2 19s W f.P 3s 6cl (average per lb s*d to 6Jd); light porkers, 32s to 40s; heavy, 44s to 53s 6d (average price per lb 6Jd to 7d).

Store Pigs.—There was a good sized yarding of all classes, with a marked improvement in prices. Weaners sold from 4s to 13s; slips, 14s to 16s; stores, 14s to 23s;.large and extra large, 24s to 365.
