ATTRACTING TOURISTS
MOVEMENT IN BRITAIN. AN ASSOCIATION FORMED' .(United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, December 13. (Received Dec. 14, at 5.5 p.m.) The Government, ie sponsoring a scheme to form a large new association to advertise throughout the world and attract visitors to Britain. Captain D. H. Hacking states that the scheme, which is being overwhelmingly supported, aims at the formation of an association with an income of £30,000 a year for five years. France last year had 1,800,000 visitors, who spent at least £75,000,000 to £100,000,000 in the country whUe Britain received only 412,000 tourists. The inaugural meeting will be held at Mansion House on December 20. The Daily Express, in an editorial, states that the Government should supply the cost of the scheme. Overtaxed industries cannot shoulder the expense. of meeting State-subsidised propaganda that draws thousands of Americans to Prance, Italy, Germany, and Switzerland—anywhere except tp Britain! —Australian Press Association.
