MOSGIEL SALVATION ARMY.

SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY. Last Sunday the Salvation Army in Mosgiel held its Sunday school anniveiV sary. Special addresses were given during the day, the children singing their songs’in an inspiring and pleasing manner' On Sunday afternoon; the scholars andteachers occupied the ‘ platform at this ■ gathering, the primary and cradle roll prizes were given to happy recipients, 37" in number. A large attendance greeted' the children on Monday night, when a programme' consisting of 18 items was rendered in a pleasing manner. At this l gathering, 17 senior scholars received prizes. The .sergeant-major, Sister Mrs M'Tainsh, and primary leader; Sister Grace Lamond, were .congratulated for the excellent programme. At the Wingatui outpost, where a , Sunday school is held weekly under the* auspices of the Salvation Army, the anniversary was held in ‘ the tea rooms on Thursday night. The Wingatui scholars; 17_ in number,, received their prizes at this meeting. ,In all there was an at-.’ tendance of over 60 who thoroughly en-' joyed the programme presented by the children, who were assisted by a company 1 - of 1 scholars from Mosgiel. The meetingwas presided over by Commandant Lamond, the corps officer, who said it was a pleasure to take an interest in the' spiritual and moral good .of the young people of the district. The programme was ns follows;—Company song, "Sun-' beams”; recitation, “A Boy’s Trouble"; West Indian double scarf drill, girls; dialogue, “ A Boy’s Pocket,” boys; character song, “Little Brown Sister”*; recitation, " Somebody’s Mother ”; actionson, “Little Deeds of Love"; "William' Booth,’’ boys; tableau,- " Where is my Boy*’; recitation, "A Boy’s Promise"; dumbell drill, boys; "Parable Lessons”;, tableau, "Lullaby,” girls; solo, "Mv Little Friend”; illustrated recitation,' “Cabin Boy Dan”’; flower song, "Heart Flowers,” girls; Scripture reading; a mis-' sionary item, " The Zulus,” boys; tableau, “ Nearer My Gcjd to Thee ” ■
