Mr -T. T. Hugo, Government inspector of fire brigades, arrived in Dunedin on Thursday night from Invercargill. He inspected the Port Chalmers Brigade last evening, and will inspect the whole of the City Brigade this morning and this evening, ,■ A special, ceremonial parade will be given the men stationed at headquarters before sunset. ■ A Wellington Press Association telegram announces the death of Mr James Edward Fulton, aged 73, one of the best known engineers in the Dominion, who was for eight years manager and- locomotive superintendent of the WellingtonManawaitu railway. He designed and built the Kelburn tramway, ■ Wellington, and built\ many bridges for the Government and for local, bodies all over New Zealand. He retired from business in 1926. Advice has been received from England that Mr T. J. Rees, of Wales, will leave for- New Zealand by the Otranto early, in January to judge the selections and quickstep in the New Zealand band contest to be held at Wanganui at the end of February. ■ Mr C. Trussell, of Queensland, who is to judge the .solos, is expected to arrive at Auckland next week from Australia. Mr Trussell will have a prolonged holiday in’ New .Zealand. The Rev. L. B. Dalby, who, since his arrival in New Zealand three years ago has been in charge of the Pitt Street Methodist Church in "Auckland," has/ accepted an invitation to become superintendent minister of,the Wesleyan Church, Plymouth, England. Mr Dalby will leave Auckland next April,, arriving in Plymouth shortly after the.annual Wesleyan Conference, which is- to be held there in 1929.
