MOTHER’S LIFE SAVED.

VERY PATHETIC STORY. A pathetic story of how a girl of 13 " mothered ” her own mother and looked after her younger sisters was told at the Kingston Police Court recently, tyhen Mrs Brown, of Norbiton, England, was summoned for not sending her daughter to school regularly. Mrs Brown said she suffered from epileptic fits and had been in hospital for 14 weeks. She had to keep, her daughter at home to look after her and her 13-months-ojd baby and another daughter, aged nine. A few weeks ago, Mrs Brown added, she 'fell on the fire while in a fit, and badly burned herself. Her daughter Lucy was a real little mother. The magistrate said it was a question of tlv> girl’s education' or the mother’s life. If she went to poke the fire with the baby in her arms, she might fall in. It was mentioned that np elder brother was sometimes out of work, and the magistrate suggested that during those intervals' he might remain at home and the girl go to school. The ease was adjourned for three months, and Lucy, who had been crying bitterly, left the court with her mother, smiling happily.
