HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE.
The final performance . of, “ The Girl Friend ” was- gijjen- in his Majesty’s Theatre last night before a large and appreciative audience. In the leading role Miss Annie .Croft again won the hearty approval of her hearers, and the able assistance given her by Gus Bluett, Leo Franklin, Reginald Sharland, May Beatty, and her daughter Bunny, James Hughes, Billie Lockwood and other mem- | bers of the company, contributed largely to the success of the production. The bright singing of the chorus and the clever dancing of the ballet were also very pleasing. .The costuming and stagmg were on a Javisli scale. , “HIT THE.DECK." ihe big naval play “Hit the Deck, which has everywhere proved a great success, will be produced for /the first time in Dunedin. Theatregoers are promised something out of the ordinary in . the way of scenery. It is claimed, by the management that the scenic and' stage effects are equal to anything yet .produced in Dunedin. What is known as the battleship- scene’Vis said to be a notable achievement of stagecraft.
