REMOVAL OF LAUNCHES.
A YOUTH A-..RESTED,

CHRISTCHURCH, August 30. This morning Constable J. Anderson, of Lyttelton, arrested a boy, aged about 15, in connection with the removal of the launches Waitea ml Pacific from their moorings at New Brighton early on Tuesday morning The constable noticed the boy loitering abo.it the wharves, apparently in the hope of getting awmy on some steamer.
It is stated that the boy’s home is in South Brighton, and that he admitted that he was responsible for the removal of the launches. When found the Pacific was stranded lower dowm tho Avon, and the Waitea was on a mudbank near Pleasant Point- Gear was missing from the Pacific, some of it, including an oil stove, being found aboard the Waitea, which, in addition to rther damage, was holed apparently through collision with the undcrstructuro of the South Brighton bridge.
The youtn appeared in the Children’s Court this afternoon. He told Mr B. D. Mosley, S.M., that he had left school, but had nothing to do. Ho was remanded till Saturday.
