CAMBRIDGE RESIDENT’S DEATH. (Per United Press Association.) CAMBRIDGE, July 2. A Well-known Cambridge resident named Felix M'Garry, aged 63, married, with three children, committed suicide yesterday afternoon. He asked his wife for his shaving outfit and gashed his throat with the razor in her presence. He had been ill for eight months, and confined to his bed for several weeks suffering great pain. He told his wife that he could not stand the pain any longer. At the inquest this morning a verdict was returned that the deceased committed suicide while temporarily insane. A VIOLENT COLLISION. TWO MOTORISTS INJURED. (Per United Press Association.) CAMBRIDGE, July 2. A serious motor accident occurred on the Cambridge-Hamilton road near- the Tamahere store about 10.30 last night, when a Chevrolet car driven by Mr M'Leod, of the Thames Valley Dairy Company, crashed into a stationary Chrysler—a taxi sedan owned by Mrs Fife, Frankton, and driven by Mr Jack Muir. There were four passengers in the taxi. The collision caused the taxi to burst into flames. One passenger in the back seat suffered a broken leg and was rescued with difficulty. A man named Neil, of Frankton, was severely cut about the face. Both men were conveyed to the Waikato Hospital. The taxi was completely destroyed, and the Chevrolet was badly damaged. A heavy fog at the time doubtless caused the collision. YOUNG MAN FOUND DEAD. (Per United Press Association.) CARTERTON, July 2. Sidney Tucker, aged 20, a son of J. W. Tucker, of Wood street, Greymouth, was found dead this morning outside a dwelling in M'Master street, with an empty bottle alongside the body. CAR FALLS OVER BANK. TWO OCCUPANTS SEVERELY INJURED. (Pee United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, July 2. The free ambulance car, on its way to Plimmerton, grazed another car, which swerved and fell down an 80 foot bank, turning over several times. The two occupants were taken to hospital—Mrs Turner with injuries to her thigh, and her daughter with concussion and shock. The car was badly damaged. The ambulance served to take the sufferers back to Wellington, and on the way picked up R. Greig, a farmer, who was severely injured at football. LORRY PLUNGES OVER BANK. DRIVER’S FORTUNATE ESCAPE. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON. July 2. A motor lorry owned by Mr L. Heck, cartage contractor, was being driven by a man named Hawkay along Moonshine road, Hutt Valley, when it plunged over a 300 feet bank. The driver jumped clear, and was only slightly injured. SAWMILL WORKER KILLED. (Per United Press Association.) NELSON, July 2. William Barlow died in hospital at Wakefield as the result of injuries received at a sawmill. The deceased was struck in the stomach by a piece of timber which became pitched in the tail of the saw and was thrown back on him. A verdict of accidental death was returned. FOUND WITH THROAT CUT. iPer United Press Association.) GREYMOUTH, July 2. Monty Hill, aged 50, single, a porter at the hospital, was found with his throat cut at the Criterion Hotel this morning. His condition is critical. VICTIM OF EXCESSIVE SPEED. (Special to Daily Times.) CHRISTCHURCH, July 2. The inquest concerning the death of George Jonathan Pine, the young man who died as the result of injuries received on the Main South road at Upper Riccarton on June 25, when he rode his motor cycle head on into a motor lorry, was concluded to-day before the coroner (Mr dp. D. Mosley, S.M.). . .. Medical evidence was given that the deceased was admitted to the public hospital deeply unconscious. There were signs of a fractured skull. Both wrists were broken, and there was extensive burning on the face, chest, and legs. _ The deceased died a few hours alter admission. The cause of death was coma following a fracture of the skull associated with heart failure caused by the shock and injuries received. Robert Benjamin Giles sauTthat on the morning of the accident he was coining out of the yard of his employer on Riccarton road in a motor truck. The deceased, who was travelling on the bitumen, hit witness’s truck head On and it burst into flames. The motor cycle was travelling at from 40 to 45 miles an hour. Witness thought that the deceased did not'see him on account of the morning sun glistening on the bitumen surface. In returning a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence, the coroner said the accident was one of those which occur all too regularly in which a valuable young life is lost through excessive speeding. YOUNG WOMAN SERIOUSLY INJURED. (Per United Press Association.) OAMARU, July 2. At 5.30 this evening, Ada Carlysle, aged 19, was cycling homewards on the Main North road, when she was run into by a motor car driven by Mr Arnold, of Timaru. She was rendered unconscious and was removed to hospital suffering from severe concussion.. The driver s statement to the police was to the effect that' the girl was cycling without lights behind another car, and swerved into the centre of the road unobserved by Mr Arnold, who was travelling in the opposite direction. The girl had not regained consciousness at a late hour. DEATH IN CHURCH. (Per United Press Association.) GORE, July 2. Henry Shepard, a married man, aged 75 years, dropped dead in the Methodist Church at Gore last evening as the service was commencing. The deceased was an officer of the church. The service was abandoned as a result.
