PALMERSTON NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) PALMERSTON, July 2. On Saturday afternoon 20 members of the Gun Club took part in a handicap 21-bird match. The chief prize was a handsome silver cup, presented by Mr George Roberts, to be shot for once a year, and won twice in succession or three times at intervals. Other prizes were a sportsman’s pocket knife and a pipe. Keen interest was taken in the match by shooters and spectators alike. The best scores were:—F. W. Robinson (11yds), 20 breaks; W. Hayward (17yds), 19; G. Stone (10yds), 18; J. S. Miller (14yds), 18; J. Nichol (10yds) 18; J. Roy (14yds), 18; H. Roberts (44yds), 17; P. Gordon (11yds), 17; R. M‘Cutcheon (10yds), IG. Four others got 15 each. F. W. Robinson was presented with the cup, W. Hayward with the knife, and the four who scored 18 will decide at the next match who is to have the pipe, as there was no time to fire off the ties.
