MILTON NOTES.
(From Oue Own Correspondent.) MILTON, June 11. PERSONAL. Mr R. Pascoe commenced duty this morning as relieving station master at Milton, temporarily filling the vacancy caused by the retirement of Mr Thomas Cockburn on superannuation. Mr Cockburn finished duty to-day after 37J years’ service with the department. LADIES’ HOCKEY. The South Otago Association’s Shield matches were resumed on Saturday afternoon. Milton A team travelled to Balclutha, and defeated the home team by three goals to one. Milton B team defeated Kaitangata on the latter’s ground by six goals to one. Bruce A scored a runaway victory (10 —nil) over the club’s B team. Milton and Bruce A teams head the competition with six points each, bofh teams being unbeaten. The present Shield points are: —
GOLF. A men’s bogey match was played on the Toko Golf Club’s links on Saturday afternoon. The results were: —R. M. Rutherford (scr), 1 up; T. Clayton (5). 3 down; L. W. Potter (5), 3 down; D. M’Donald (11). 4 down; J. P. Every (11), 5 down; W. Hitchon (22), 5 down; D. Sumpter (7), 6 down; D. Moyes (20), 6 down; C. J. Clery (20), 6 down; G. Clark (15), 8 down.
