JAPANESE PICTURE BRIDES. CANADIAN IMMIGRATION LAWS. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) OTTAWA, June 8. (Received June 10, at 6.5 p.m.) The practice of sending for Japanese picture brides is to end, the Premier, Mr King, announced in the House of Commons. He also announced that the Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs had informed the Canadian Government that Japan did not contemplate that the total number of Japanese immigrants to Canada under the new administrative measures on September 1 would exceed 150 annually. The Premier stated that hereafter, immigration from Japan vising passports, and pre-investigation of applicants would be admnistered by Canadian officials.—Australian Press Association.
