LABOUR IN BRITAIN
THE PARLIAMENTARY PARTY. VIEWS ON EGYPTIAN QUESTION. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, May 3. The Parliamentary Labour Party, after a meeting at which Mr Ramsay MacDonald presided, issued a statement that while the four reserved points were outstanding, the Anglo-Egyptian differences might at any moment produce a conflict. The Labour Party’s apprehension has been increased by the British ultimatum, and the threat of armed force, which the Labour Party strongly condemned as being wholly unsuited to the situation, and calculated to leave feelings inimical to the relations desired with Egypt. The statement urged Britain to repeat the assurances of 1922 that the reserved points should be the subject of an agreement, enabling Egypt to enter into negotiations thereon; and to become a member of the League of Nations, whereby the security of Imperial communications and of the Suez Canal could be placed on an international and unassailable foundation. —Australian Press Association — United Service.
