It is estimated that hundreds o£ Chinese were killed when a refugee train from Pukow en route to Tientsin collided with an empty military train on a bridge over the Fei River, north of Pongpu. Several carriages plunged 50ft into, the river. The refugees climbed on to the roofs of the carriages. Scores were killed outright, and the remainder were drowned. The impact was terrific, and every carriage was derailed on both trains. —Australian Press Association—United Service.
