The omission of necessary provision in the legislation appointing the Sydney Civic Commission has led to an unexpected position. No fund has been established from which tlie entertainment of distinguished visitors can be paid, and Chief Commissioner Fleming must foot the Bill until legislative relief if afforded. The Lord Mayor was formerly voted £ISOO per annum for the purposes of entertainment.

RELEASED FROM GAOL. MELBOURNE, April 15. (Received April 15, at 5.5 p.m.) Allan Moore, who was sentenced 1G years ago to imprisonment for the term of his natural life for burglary and wounding at tho home of Mr Geoffrey Syme, of the Age Proprietary, has been released from gaol.
