BEAUTIFUL HANDS.

Beautiful hands arc capable hands. There is nothing remarkable about hands that are kept as line and soft as velvet with linger nails, pink tipped, pointed till they look like claws of a bird, and polished to have the appearance of jewels. Girls who never use tneir hands have those, and though they arc pretty to look at. no one would ever call them beautiful. Shape and size have a good deal to do with beauty of the hands. Very small hands are not admired now except when those who have them are very small. A well-shaped, well-cared-for supple hand that looks as if it might be put to any purpose is what is usually recognised as beautiful. Care of tho hands means a certain amount of trouble taken xeguiaily every day. Keep tho skin at tho base of the finger nails down by pushing it back with the towel every time you wash your hands. Push it back with an orange stick if neecseary. Never out the cuticle. File the nails every day or two with an emery board. You can do it quite easily if you hold back the flesh of tho linger on which you are working with your thumb. Don’t leave sharp little corners on your nails, file them round and shape the tips of the nails to suit th e points of your tino-ers Don’t have tho nails too long, very lono- nails are not smart just now. If the inside of the nail is soiled and will not clean with lemon juice use a very little peroxide of hydrogen on the tip of an orange stick and that will remove tho stain. Don’t use this often as it makes the nail brittle. See that all the edges of the filed nails are smoothed by using the emery board, then soak your fingers in warm soapy water, rub dry, and polish, using a good cream and powder and a clean chamois skin. A little oil rubbed into tho root qi the nail at night helps to keep the nail smooth, and it is not a bad plan in winter to sleep occasionally with a pair of old white gloves with tho finger-tips cut off. The hands should first be well rubbed with a good cream.
