METHODIST CONFERENCE.
YESTERDAY’S PROCEEDINGS. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, February 20. 'After lengthy discussion by the Methodist Conference on the proposal that the general secretary of the Young People s JJepartment, the Rev. E. P. Blamires, should attend the World’s Sunday School Convention at Los Angeles_ in July, Mr Blamires was granted permission to withdraw from the trip. The conference received R deputation from th e New Zealand Alliance which submitted a statement of its policy in connection with this year’s licensing poll. The deputation was received in committee. The great part of to-day’s business was taken Tn committee. The Theological College Council as composed last vear was re-elected with one altration. The Rev. W. J. Elliott was elected to the council. Dr Laws was reappointed aa principal of college unti} 1931, and Dr Ranston was designated as his successor. It was decided that Dr Ranston go to England to study college methods before ho takes over the duties of principal.
