ROWING.
HAMILTON REGATTA. (Pe« United Press Association.) HAMILTON. January 30. The Hamilton Rowing Club's Anniversary Day regatta was held on the \Vaikato River to-day in line weather. The principal results were: — > Junior Fours. —Tanranga 1, St. Georges and Whangarei (dead heat) 2. Won by two lengths. , , * Senior Challenge Fours and Laches Challenge Chip.—Hamilton (B. Sanders, V. Bayly, G. St. Clair, E. Waters) 1, St. George's 2. Waitemata 3. Won by live lengths. These were the only starters. Handicap Single Sculls. —R. _ Cruickshank (GOsce) I. L W. St. Clair 2, C. Molesworth 3. All were Hamilton oarsmen. ’Won by one length. Four picked crows rowed in two oightoar trials, which provided an excellent racOj and the first of the kind ever seen on the Waikato. EIGHT-OAR HARBOUR RACES. The eight-oared boat races which were to he rowed last evening on the Upper Harbour had to be postponed owing to the strong north-east wind and choppy sea. It was hoped that the conditions would improve late in the afternoon, but. as the wind showed no abatement, the oOicials decided that the water was too rough for Die boats to be launched. Should tiie conditions bo favourable the races will be rowed this evening.
