nevertheless managed to run into second place in each of her engagements. Trampfast seemed to be out of gegr at Forbury Park and showed a tendency to mix instead of settling into the gait 6Xat placed him on a 4.30 ■ mark. According to reports_ Young Blake looks none the worse for his recent racing. In fact, he looks even better than when no left for Auckland at the end of last year. Tomkinson has him going really well at present. , Mr A. Jj, Keith, who died recently at Ashburton, was at one time prominently associated with trotting before he took up farming. _ , The starter at Forbury Park is now placed on a stand well back from the insl .de rail, and thus is not apt to interfere with the limit horses, as when placed at the edge of the track. The starting was satisfactory, except in two races. In the Stewards Handicap Nan Brent was walking the reverse way at the start, ana Liberal was side on as the rest of the field went away in the Royal Handicap. Concliff began slowly at the start, of the Au Revoir Handicap and appeared to hold a very remote chance of getting amongst the money at the end of the fir?t couple of furlongs. He, however, commenced to gather a rare burst of speed over the final half, and although having to bo pulled out in the straight got up in time to pip Jean M'Elwyn on the post for second place. Concliff seems to have become more solid, and carries his speed with more stamina than was previously the case. _ When horses race well outside their handicap the fact should receive more official notice than appears to bo the case. The Judicial Committee of the Forbury Park Trotting Club did not allow Quickfire to retain the judge’s verdict of being placed as a dead heat with Audalie when they finished behind All Peters in the WaVerley Handicap without question. Quickfire finished on a break in the last couple of strides. A bad break put in bv Engagement in the Crescent Handicap also warranted attention. She broke at the far turn and continued at a gallop until showing out 11 front of Clonmel, who had been leading her at that stage of the race. _ Engagement caught back to the right gait just at the two-furlong, and then came on to win. A stretch of brush used as “ escapes for coursing runs for a considerable distance along the south bend of the track, and this, should he removed in order to provide a better view of a horse’s 1 action v non racing to the home turn.
