CRITICISM OF HIGHWAYS BOARD.
At the Waitaki County Council meeting to-day strong criticism was levelled at the members of the Highways Board on account of the speed of the cars which conveyed them on their tour through North Otago. It was alleged that they showed a very bad example to the public by travelling at 60 miles an hour. A councillor stated that it was disgraceful in the extreme that men who were making the laws should flout them as they did, thus endangering other people’s lives. The Chairman said he could not see how members of the board could view the roads when they travelled at such a speed.
