SLIP ON MAIN LINE.

NO DANGER TO TRAINS. (Special to Daily i’imes.) AT’CKLAND, December 27. Passengers on the limited were treated to a. mild thrill at Taupiri this morning, where the Maungawaro River joins the Waikato. The hank along the railway line has fallen away and left a gap 25 yards long and about 15ft deep. The lip of the gap is within two feet of the railwav line, and trains have to reduce speed to a walking pace. There is no danger, however, and gangs are out repairing the damage. It is thought the slip was caused Hv the dry weather and the fact (hat the river is low because of the tilling of the Arapnni dam.
