As a contribution to peace and to diminish the risk of a naval race, the Daily Mail, in a leader, suggests abandoning the Singapore base, thereby reassuring Japan and relieving British finance. It says that Singapore is valueless strategically because it is undefendable, and the situation does not serve to protect Australia.—Sydney Sun Cable.
