WEST END LARRIKINISM
UNDERGRADUATES’ RAGGING. A STORM OF INDIGNATION. (Freu Association—By Telegraph—Copy right.) LONDON, December 14. The wild disorders of undergraduates have aroused the strongest indignation, and theirs is generally agreed to have been the worst exhibition of larrikinism in the West End. The newspapers are unsparing in their castigation, and vigorously style the participants as “ toughs,” “ hooligans,” and “ cads.” Several of them appeared in the police courts, and the highest fine, £3, was imposed. It is reported that the actual damage amounted to hundreds of pounds. Theatrical managers have resolved to take the strongest action to prevent renetition. Mr Harry Day (Labour) has given notice of a' question in the Commons to Mr Baldwin as Vice-Chancellor of the Cambridge University, asking that as the university cannot control its members away from Cambridge, they should leave the question of dealing with such disgraceful conduct to the civil authorities. —A. and N.Z.
