THE WAITAKI SCHEME. (Peb United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, December 14. At a conference to-day of power sunply authorities and local bodies of Nortn, Central, and South Canterbury and North Otago a motion was carried that it was imperative that the Waitaki scheme should be far enough advanced to take part of the fast-advancing load on Lake Coleridge, preferably by the winter of 1929. Various speakers stressed the urgency of the question, saying that the Government must be pressed to expedite the work at Waitaki. It was also decided that th e supplv authorities’ engineers wait on the Minister of Public Works immediately, and that a big deputation, including members of Parliament, wait on the Minister of Finance, urging (hat more money be provided for the Waitaki scheme.
