HOSPITAL BOARD REPORTS.
The following are summaries of the re-, ports to be submitted at next mooting of the Otago Hospital Board The Benevolent Committee will report having dealt with 23 cases for relief at a weekly cost of £ls 4s 6d. Casual cases for relief amounting to £l7O 16s 7d had been approved. Seventeen men who desired relief on account of being out of work had been given work. Five applications for relief had been declined. The medical superintendent had been authorised to act in reference to dietary, infirmary ward, Otago Benevolent Institution. During the past month, six persons had been admitted to. eight discharged, and one death had occurred at the Otago Benevolent Institution. At present 148 inmates remained. The Sanatorium Committee recommends that the sketch plan submitted by the architects for proposed additions to the dispensary at the Pleasant Valley Sanatorium be approved, provision be made in the next year’s estimates and the work proceeded ' with thereafter. All liability had again been declined in the claim made by Mr Walter Gibb for damages to his gig. The medical superintendent, and medical director had been authorised to act in regard to leave of absence to nursing staff at the Pleasant Valley Sana torium The resident medical officer reported that four persons have been admitted to, four discharged from, and 43 patients remain at Pleasant Valley Sanatorium. The Hospital Committee will report that the offer of Messrs Donald Stuart, Ltd., to cover, without cost to the board, the floor of the small room adjoining the operating theatre with some new material had been approved. Sir L. F. Barnett had intimated (hat Mrs W. H. Reynolds and Miss Reynolds had made a generous offer of a valuable static machine for use in the. physiotherapy department. Dunedin Hospital, and the offer luM been accepted with thanks. Messrs R. Brinsley and Co.’s quotation for assembling the cas ranges in the new kitchen had been accepted. The quotation received from Messrs A. and T. Burt for the supply of a pipe-bending nun bine had been accepted. The quotation of Messrs Farm Bros., Ltd., for the supply of a cabinet for the records room had been accepted.
