A WAIKATO DISPUTE. COUNTY COUNCIL AND HIGH WATS BOARD. (Per United Press --ssociatios.) HAMILTON, December 13. A dispute between the Waikato County Council and the Main Highways Board reached a head at the County Council meeting to-day. A difference between the two bodies occurred over the maintenance of tile Ngaruawahia-Ohinewai stretch of the Main South road, for which the County Council demanded a subsidy of £3 foV £l, while the Highways Board would only come to an agreement on a £2 for £1 basis. ■ The county stubbornly resisted the Highways Board’s demand for a larger contribution, and decided today, failing further satisfaction, to ask for a commission to inquire into the matter.
