RELATIONS WITH SOVIET
A SWEDISH LIEUTENANT. RELEASE DECIDED ON. (Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.) STOCKHOLM, December 12. (Received Dec. 13, at 8.15 p.m.) Lieutenant Norberg has been released. Th e Government statement showed that the police interrogation revealed that Norberg had handed a representative of the Soviet certain books of a military nature, but nothing on which he was indictable. The Soviet Legation also issued a statement drawing attention to the charges of espionage, and stating that they were unfounded, '’evertheless. it admits that Norberg’s relations with the legation were irregular, and is making the amend honourable by effecting a speedy change in the legation’s military personnel.—A. and N.Z. Cable. Lieutenant Norberg, who was engaged in the coast defence, was arrested on a charge of betraying secrets to the Soviet military attache, M. Pauloras.
