BURGLARY IN CHRISTCHURCH
BOOT PREMISES ENTERED. MONEY AND STOCK STOLEN. (Special to Daily Times.) CHRISTCHURCH, December 1. By smashing in a back window thieves entered the premises-of S. Gilmotir, boot importer, of 619, Cashel street, some time last evening or early this morning, taking money and a quantity of stock. Mr Gilniour closed down at the usual lime yesterday, locking all windows and both the back door and one leading into the front portion of the shop. When he arrived at work this morning he found that a back window bad been smashed and that a pane of glass in the door leading to the front of the shop had been cut out. The stock had been ransacked thoroughly, boots and boxes being strewn on the floor behind the counter. A number of boxes had been taken down, but were replaced on the shelves. The till had been opened, but the thieves must have been disappointed, as it contained some small change and coppers and stamps, all of which were taken.
