DEATH BY STRANGULATION. (Per United Press Association.) NAPIER, December 1. At the inquest to-day concerning the death of a Tittle girl, Dorothy Leyland Green, aged five years and a-half, the evidence desclosed that the deceased apparently was endeavouring to gain admittance to the house through a small window which was fastened at varying heights by a bolt slipping into a hole and was not weighted. Presumably, the child opened the window but failed to bolt it properly, and when she had her head through it fell and pinned her there. The marks of the toes of her shoes on the wall of the house indicated that the unfortunate •T-tle girl had made efforts to regain her footing on the block by which she had got up to the window, but when her mother arrived home the child was dead. A verdict was returned that death was caused by strangulation and shock. The Coroner remarked that it was one of the saddest cases he had had to deal with, and he added that the man Who made the windowmade a shocking job of it.
