PURAKANUI NOTES.
(From Odh Own Correspondent.) PURAKANUI, November 30. THE WEATHER. There has been practically no summer weather hero this month. This last week has been most unpleasant during the daytime, cold winds from the south, with very cold rain showers intermingled prevailing. The evenings, however, have been beautifully clear, although the atmosphere has been cold. -The young folk are taking advantage of the lawn tennis courts, and the daylight saving enables them to continue playing until 9 o’clock almost oveiy evening. FARMING. Fat lambs are leaving the district freely at present and very satisfactory prices are being realised by the farmers for them. Late autumn and early spring sowings ol oats, rye, corn, etc., aro looking well. Turnips that have just been sown a lew weeks ago aro already through tho ground. Potatoes me showing up well, an Q it they continue to go ahead there will be some good crops hero this season when digging operations commence. Paddocks that have been closed up for hay are now about ready for mowing. By the looks of the this year there will bo an abundance of hay for the coming winter feed. SCHOOL CONCERT.
Tho annual school children s conceit • to be held hero on Friday evening, and it promises to bo a great success.
