meeting of committee. Mr H. Millar presided over thp monthly meeting of the Mosgiel District High School Committee last night. There was a full' attendance- of committee men. The Education Board notified that Mr T. M. M’Donald had been appointed to the position of first assistant, and would commence his duties on December 1 next. —Noted. The Outram School Committee wrote regarding the dental clinic, and the number of schools participating in the benefits accruing from it.—Left to the secretary to supply the information. Miss Christie forwarded her resignation as infant mistress, as she was retiring from the service.—The resignation was accepted. A letter was read from a parent regard, ing ill-treatment of his child in the secon. clary department.—After discussion it was resolved to receive the letter. It was unofficially reported to the meeting that the teacher in charge of the secondary department had received an appointment, in the North Island, and a sub-com. mittee was appointed to attend to the filling of the vacancy, when the resignation had been handed in. Accounts totalling £22 2s were passed for payment. The* Otago Education Board notified that no objection would be made to the school closing on December 15. It would re-open on Wednesday, February 1, 1928. . —Received. The Rector’s report stated that the attendance had been exceptionally good. The primary roll number was 393, and the secondary 366. Twenty-one pupils had been accredited for proficiency certificates. The hall had been engaged for the annual concert on December 15. He asked for information regarding the amount to be expended in prizes and for the upkeep of the school garden during the holidays. Mr-Sparks had. - submitted an account for travelling expenses of the members of the school football team. Miss Miller’s engagement ended at the close of this year. It was decided to expend the sum of £l7 10s in prizes and to procure a medal for the secondary school. Also, to spend a small sum on the upkeep of the school garden throughout the holidays, and to vote £2 7s 6d towards the school football team’s ff s. The Chairman voiced a protest against the school team being c 1 liged to play matches away from home so often in the season. A protest should be sent to the association. —This was agreed to.
