OUTSTANDING RATES. A. COUNTY COUNCIL 'PROBLEM. - (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, October 6. A deputation representative of local bodies chiefly in the King Country and North Auckland districts waited on the Prime Minister to-day with reference to the difficulties in which local bodies arc placed through the large amounts of rates that are outstanding on Native lands. At Mr Coates’s suggestion the position was stated both from the point of view of the Native owners and from the point ot view of the County Councils. It was agreed, at the Prime Minister’s suggestion, that a committee representative of both sides, with the addition of the secretary of the Lands Deparlmcnt, should meet in the afternoon and draw up recommendations for the consideration of the Government.
