ODDS AND ENDS.

Feather flowers are as numerous as ever they were, not because of their valuo as dress or coat ornaments, but because they are used for decorating the rooms in place of fresh flowers. The latest innovation in these artificial flowers is a cluster of luxurious orchids. They are shaped from quill feathers and coloured in a very realistic fashion. Even the buds are made from feathers, tinted exactly the right shades. OLD BUT FASHIONABLE. Collecting antique paper weights is a fashionable hobby with those who can afford such luxuries, and, in consequence, some very delightful specimens are coming to light. For instance, I saw in a jeweller's recently some quaintly-shaped weights in clear cut-glass. One in frosted glass was inset with turquoise arranged in golden grooves. Enamelled weights, and glass weights with coloured stones set inside, are other quaint samples. THE SLOWER WALTZ. It is predicted that next season *e shall have slower dances than have been seen in the ballroom for some time past. The return of the tango craze is not expected, but more slow foxtrots avo to be played, and now variations are being arranged for this and in the waltz there are to be now hesitation movements. There can be no doubt, say the exports, about the return of the waltz to popularity. Indeed, they are as enthusiastic oyer the new movement as if they constituted a new dance, and not merely the revision of a ccnturyold one. COMPACT COMPLEXIONS. Perfumiers who specialise in compact novelties have created many delightful sets . recently. For instance, a tiny case of onyx not more than two inchea square, with, golden clasps to fasten it, contain '. o. square of solid powder, a square of rouge, and two slender onyx and gold . tubes, one for lipstick and one for scent '. essence. Grey, glazed kid with goldplated fittings, go to the making of other > small, but well-fitted, cases. These attractive boxes are now fittpd with Bpring catches, a decided advantage, aftor one has experienced the drawback of a v>owder box which shuts in tho ordinary, insecure way. BAND OF GOLD. Instead of wearing grey moire ribbon to ono's watch wristlet, the latest vogue is tho use of a bracelet of flexible gold. This is a pretty and substantial substitute. Not only in plain gold but in a mixture of gold and silver are theso bracelets proving vory popular, when they are attached to little silver watches.
