THE NEW SOUTH WALES SPLIT. (Fret* Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.) CANBERRA, May 17. The Federal Conference of the Australian Labour Party defeated a proposal that all expulsions and suspensions, as the result of the Labour split in New South Wales shold be void. This niainly affects Mr Seale, who was expelled by the Conroy Executive for defiance of its orders. POLICY TOWARDS DEFENCE. OVERSEAS SERVICE OPPOSED. SYDNEY, May 17. (Received May 17, at 10 p.m.) The conference passed a resolution amending the Federal Party’s policy, particularly in regard to defence. In addition to the resolution cabled yesterday, it was resolved that the Commonwealth constitution he amended in order to include a condition that there should be no conscription for service overseas, the Government retaining power to provide for adequate home defence against a possible foreign invasion. It was- also decided to insert a new 7 rule in the platform that all incomes up to £3OO a year should bo exempt from taxation, and that the Government should have complete control over wireless.
