BIBLE CLASS UNION

PRESBYTERIAN YOUNG MEN. The annual meeting of the district committee of tho Presbyterian Young Men's Bible Class Union was held in First Church classroom. Mr J. Dcnford presided over an attendance of .‘<s delegates. The annual report stated inter alia: Contact with the classes has b;v;u well maintained by meetings, circulars, and visitation work, and lively interest has been displayed by the classes in the various activities. The statistics show an increase of 13 in affiliations, making the total number of classes 53, 2-t of which are cnior and 29 junior. The total membership is 686—275 seniors and 411 juniors—an increase of 90 over the previous year’s figures. The Young People’s Division Association, which was formed for the purpose of training young people for leadership work, received our support. The meetings of the association arc of high practical value, and the union commends tho work of the association to members. The inter-Bible Class Council again received our support. SVc recognise the fine work done by the council, and are gratified at tho further progress made during the year. The rally and sports meeting organised by the council also received the support of our classes. A resolution of protest against the proposals contained in the Licensing Amendment Bill, 1926. was forwarded to the Prime Minister and members of Parliament for the district. A bursary fund is to be established for the support of a Bible class student for the ministry. A sub-district has been formed iu South Otago. A total of £196 was contributed by this district to the mission funds of the union. There are 2G4 subscribers to Foursquare, an advance of It on the previous year. Thanks are duo to those who have given of their best to further tho interests of the movement. We refer particularly to the speakers at the various rallies, the judges of the debates and sports, and, especially, to Or G. Stewart, the Rev. A. M‘Neur, and Mr L. D. Mitchell, of the Milton class, for the untiring zeal with -which they have carried out the multitudinous duties attached to the arranging of tho Mount Stuart Camp. During Easter, our district suffered a great loss in the death of one of its oldest and most highly respected leaders, Mr P. L, Clark, who, for years past, laboured unsparingly in the Maori/ Hill class. His presence and kindly counsel at district committee meetings will be greatly missed. We extend to his relatives and to i lit* Maori Hill class our deepest sympathy.
