A FAMOUS RACEHORSE. WINNINGS OVER £38,000. (Press Association—Ej Telegraph-Copyright.) SYDNEY. May 2. The racehorse Heroic ran his last race on Saturday, and will be used in future for stud purposes. During his racing career Heroic won over £38,000 in stakes, occupying second place to Gloaming in the list of winning racehorses. NEW ZEALAND HORSES. LEAVING SYDNEY ON FRIDAY. (Press Association—By g y rlß *2' Limerick and Battlement, with their trainer (F. D. Jones) and M’Carten (jockey), will leave for New Zealand on Friday next; also Lausanne, Paleta, and Count Cavour. (Received May 2, at 7.15 p.m.) The Newcastle Tattersall’a Club Cup resulted:—Donald, 9.7, 1; Rawhetu, 7.11, 2; Alwyne Spree, 6.12, 3. There were nine starters. (Received May_ 2, at 10.40 p.m.) Donald scored his victory by a long head. The May Day Handicap was won by Land of Leisure, 7.5, with Royal Attendant 7.0 second, and Absurdom 9.0 third. There were eight starters. Won by three lengths. Time, Imin 15sec. —A. and N.Z. Cable.
LAWN TENNIS. NEW SOUTH WALES CHAMPIONSHIP. (Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.) SYDNEY, May 2. (Received May 2, at 7.15 p.m.) In the final of the mixed doubles championship of New South Wales, Willard and Miss Cox defeated Schlesinger and Miss Akhurst, 6—4, B—6. In the men’s doubles championship, Peach and North beat Schlesinger and WiJ'ard, 6—2, B—6, 7—9, 4—6, 6—3. OLYMPIC GAMES. ACCOMMODATION FOR NEW ZEALANDERS. (Special to Daily Times.) WELLINGTON, May 2. The New Zealand Olympic Games Council has sent a cable message to the English Olympic Council asking whether the New Zealand team could be accommodated on the boat which it is proposed to charter for the team selected to represent Great Britain at the games at Amsterdam next year. It is intended that the English team shall live on the ship while at Amsterdam.
