MARRIED WOMEN
CIVIL SERVICE EMPLOYMENT, BILL REJECTED BY COMMONS. (Prest Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, April 29. The House of Commons discussed a private Bill regulating the employment of married women. Lady Astor, in a fighting speech, turned sharply on her opponents, notably on Captain Bourne, for saying that married women were inefficient Tiie House rejected the Bill, one of the chief aims of which was to aprevent marriage from being a bar to employment in the Civil Service.—A. and N.Z.
