JOHN M'GLASHAN COLLEGE.

SECOND ANNUAL CONCERT. Tlie second annual concert by those connected with the .John M'Glashan Old Collegians’ Association was given in the Coronation Hall, Maori Hill, on Saturday evening, and was numerously attended. Mr James Begg occupied the chair. The concert was opened by Mr W, G. Hilliker, who sang ‘Blow, Blow, Thou Winter Wind,” very acceptably, and later on contributed “Song of the Volga Boatmen,’’ which met with hearty applause. In the absence of 'Miss Anita Winkel, Miss Beryl Cooper recited “My Financial Career,” and Mias Helen Wilson played as a pianoforte solo a nocturne by Chopin (Op. 48). Miss Yalda M'Curdy was very successful in her interpretation of “Sing, Joyous Bird.” Miss Doris M‘Curdy and Mr J. Leech sang the duet “The Merry Month of May,’ and the first part of the programme was completed with an instrumental duet, the performers being Misseri E. Judd (violin) and M. Caddie (piano',. In the second part the boys of the college contributed two sea chanties —“The Drunken Sailor’’ and “Good Morning, Ladies All”—very acceptably; and Miss Doris M’Curdy gave an acceptable rendering of “Spring, the Fiddler.” Misses Judd and Caddie played a second instrumental duet very nicely, Mr A. Gorrie created a most favourable impression with his recital of “Carry On,” and Mr C. Gray brought the concert to a conclusion with a pianoforte solo, “Whims,” by Schumann.
