THE RAILWAY SERVICE.
ELECTION OF A.B.RkS. PRESIDENT. Seven candidates contested the recent' election for the office of president of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants. On the first count Mr M. Connelly topped the poll; but after the final distribution of the preferential votes, Mr _ James Churchoußa was declared elected with 3019 votes; Mr Connelly receiving 2993; Mr Schofield 1706, and Mr Elliott Ilia The following table shows the vote* recorded for the four leading candidates;
