MOVE IN FAVOUR OF TOTALTSATOR (Press AsßCciatloD--By telegraph—Copynghr , LONDON, April 29. (Received April 29, at 9 p.m.) A decision which is regarded as bringing the totalisator appreciably nearer has been reached by the Jockey Club which is instituting an inquiry “into the means by which betting may best be made to contribute to the maintenance of the sport." The Daily Telegraph’s racing expert says that obviously the Jockey Club sees a solution of its present difficulties in the totalisator as a means of not only assisting the Slate from betting, but of deriving benefit from the gross percentage deducted for the welfare of racing generally.—A. and N.Z.
