GENERAL NEWS.

When the Rev. H. E. Bellhonse, chairman of tire Otago-Southland District, was on his way to Ohai to take part in the public ceremony of the stone laying of a new Methodist church there, he called at Lawrence and presided over the December quarterly meeting. There was a full attendance of officials. The balance sheet was favourably commented upon, and the Sunday school and young peoples’ reports were satisfactory. Five senior members wore added to the roll, and two juniors. Mr J. E. Stephens was elected senior circuit steward, and Air Ted Weatherall junior circuit steward. The retiring stewards— Alessrs Ptobson and Russell, were thanked for past services. Preliminary work wa* discussed concerning the installation of the electric light in the parsonage and the church, also the coming of the new minister in April. Bro. W. Johns presided over a fair attendance of members at tho fortnightly meeting of Mistletoe Lodge, held in the F.A. Hall. Green Island. The lodge has had the disstinctioi of having no members on the sick list for over a month. P.D.P Bro. Harvey commented on the able way tho new secretary had done his work, Bro. J. Logic, jun, suitably replying. The members discussed at length the amendment of rules, etc., and several members intimated their intention of visiting Royal Oak Lodge to hear the members of the board of management on the proposed hospital scheme.
