OBITUARY

SIR FRANK MOULDEN. / (Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.) ADELAIDE, December 23. The death is announced of Sir Frank Beaumont Moulden, formerly State Attorney-Geperal. Sir Frank Beaumont Moulden was born on June 25, 1876. He entered the Adelaide City Council in 1904, and was an alderman in 1913. He rendered prominent services in connection with civic administration in South Australia. He was Lord Mayor of Adelaide from 1919 to 1921. MR WILLIAM LESLIE. Mr, William Leslie, who died at Waikouaiti on December 17 at the age of 73, was the son of the late Captain Leslie, who was well known in Dunedin in the early days. He ivas born in Dundee (Scotland) in 1853, and when two years of age went to Melbourne wdth his parents. After a few years’ residence there, the family came over to Wellington, and in 1861 they removed to Dunedin, where Mr Leslie received his education. —first in the Union Street School under the late Mr A. Stewart, and later at Anderson’s Bay School. As a young man he was very fond of boating, and was frequently engaged in conveying firewood from North-East Harbour to Dunedin. In 1868 he took up a section on Harbour Cone, Portobello, and was in the employ of the late Mr W. J. M. Larnach when Larnach’s Castle was being built. In these days it was quite common to walk from Portobello to Dunedin, and this Mr Leslie frequently did. He remained m the Harbour Cone section until 1908, ■ when he sold out and purchased another farm at Ahuriri Flat, in the Gatlins district. In 1923 he retired from active work and removed to Waikouaiti. The deceased was of a kind and generous disposition, and took an active and intelligent interest in everything that was for the good of the district in which he lived. He was a valued worker in the Prosby terian Church and Sunday school. As a young man he was an active member of the Portobello Volunteers. In 1887 be was married to Miss Margaret Gibson, of Waianakarau, and they, together with nine of a family and a number of grandchildren, arc left to mourn their loss.
