OBITUARY

ROSALINE COURTNEIDGE. (Frees Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, December 8. The death is announced of Rosaline Courtneidge, the actress. —A. and N-Z. Cable. Rosaline Courtneidge was born in London on August 19, 1903. She made her first appearance on the stage at Great Malvern on October 14, 1919, as Ada Winbush in “The Man From Toronto.’’ She then joined the Ben Greet Shakespearean Company, playing Nerissa in “The Merchant of Venice.” She made her first appearance on the London stage at the Haymarket Theatre in February, 1920, as Bobette in “Daddies," playing the part at four hours’ notice. She then paid a visit to Australia and Now Zealand, playing her original part in “The Man From Toronto.” She returned to London and appeared in many Shakespearean and other plays.
