ST. PAUL’S BOYS’ CLUB.

A most enjoyable closing rally of members of Sc. Paul’s Cathedral Boys’ Club was held in the schoolroom on Wednesday evening. The gathering took tho form of a “Mother-and Son” evening, and judging by the large attendance of mothers, great interest is being taken in the welfare of their sons. Canon Nevill presided, and in a few words welcomed the mothers. The programme of games as staged by the boys gave testimony to the interest displayed by the various clubs. The function was a visible effort to foster the relationship between a mother and her son. The games kept tho mothers bright and merry the whole evening. Special mention is made of two small lads who kept tho visitors in uproarious laughter while endeavouring to box blindfolded. The culminating scene uas when, at a given signal, 30 boys rushed to the centie of the hall and formed a living pyramid, and when the applause had ceased it was good to see how the boys wefit, feeling very proud of their feat, to tell mother how it was done. Following the grand march ‘‘mothers and sons,” the assembly sat down to supper. Special mention is here made of the Rev. E. C. W. ITassa 11 (director of the boys’ work), whose untiring efforts made possible such a gathering. Since his appointment to the staff of tho Cathedral, Mr Hassali has placed hoys’ work on a very sound foundation, and tho mothers present expressed appreciation of his interest in.their' sons. Archdeacon Cnrzon Siggers and the Rev. Mr Moreton spoke on behalf of different bodies of the church. Mr Hassali, replying. stated that his work would not have been possible had it hot been for the first-hand assistance of Mr Bond and Mr I.edgerwood, who gave yeoman service un-snarine-lv. Tho function was concluded with the singing of “Abide With Me.’ “Auld Lang Byne,” and the National Antheni. '
