ST. KILDA BOROUGH COUNCIL
The regular meeting of the St. Kilda Borough Council was 'held last evening, and was attended by Crs Edgar (in the chair), Leary, Lougworth. Beattie, M'Ourdy, and Accounts amounting to £147 11s 3d were passed for payment. The Assistant Under-Secretary, Public Works, writing with regard to a protest against the appointment of Mr F. J. WilI'ams to the Appeal Board to No. 12 Motor Omnibus District, stated that the protest had been noted. Both Mi Williams and Mr Hall had been nominated by the local authorities concerned, and as two nominations had been icceived for the one position. the Minister of Public Works had been constrained to recommend his Excel lency the Governor-General to appoint the man considered the more suitable tor this particular position. Local inquires had been made before the appointment had been decided, and the writer had no doubt that Mr Williams would be found in every way satisfactory.—-The letter was received, Cr Leary saying that they had recorded their protest.
