meeting of committee. The meeting of the committee of the Forbury Park Trotting Club, held last night, was presided over by Mr B. S. Irwin, and was attended by Messrs T. I. Ritchie, G. J. Barton. J. James, who is relinquishing the position of secretary to the club, said lie washed to take that opportunity of thanking members for the treatment ex tended to him and also for the handsome monetary recognition that had been made of his services. He had never had a cross word with any president or stem arc! throughout his lengthy connection with the ° h The Secretary of the New Zealand Trotting Association wrote stating that the Auckland '"rotting Club had decidcd to refuse the nomination of Billy Sea ami Profiteer on account of their waywardness It the post and also that the owner of Lady Joan had been warned that if his mare did not improve her manners her nomination would be refused. •, The Town Clerk wrote to the effect that the receipts on the tramways extension to the park were short of the tluo s guarantee of £I2OO by £lOl Is 6d. V The Chairman said that the committee had endeavoured to get a copy of the guarantee, but hadn’t yet succeeded in doing so. They couldn’t no into the question until they got a copy. r „ nlll . The Secretary explained that a resolu tion rescinding the guarantee was passed two years ago. but on representations bring made by the council it was agreed to renew the guarantee for two years, providing one year’s takings was balanced ag i" n was h dco°iclod ‘to write to the council requesting a copy of the guarantee. Mr Quirk brought up the question of radio operators being allowed to broadcast the description of races at lorbury. It was done in other centres, and was ml Se a Chai?manl' There is just the point that if you give the people the news that way they mightn’t go .to the races. Personally, I think it is of the greatest assistance to bookmakers. It was decided to leave the matter over in the meantime. The balance sheet of the last meeting was read, and disclosed a loss of approxi-rnatcly-l to ; ns t ruc t the Programme Committee to allot stakes amounting to £5 750 for the race meeting in January. , , , Mr Barton said he was sorrv to see the stakes reduced. If they gave good stakes they would got the best horses. Mr James Mitchell: Wc didn’t get them last time. „ . ~ ~ Mr Join) Mitchell: It isn’t a a question of* stakes. Wellington and other places pet the nominations and don’t give the stakes we do. . Mr James Mitchell said that repairs to some of the club’s buildings were necessary. There was a bad leak in the roof of the president’s room, and .the outside totalisator building also lot in the water badly.—lt was decided that the whole committee should inspect the buildings on Thursday. Ten new members were elected.
