COMPETITION OF MOTORS. LOSS FOR HALF YEAR. , (Special to Daily Times.) CHRISTCHURCH, December 6. At the annual meeting of the Christchurch Tramway Board to-day the Chairman, Mr W. J. Walter, after a eurvey of the board’s finances, expressed the opinion that the only way to meet a falling revenue and increased power and wages costs, was to impose a property rate. During the half year ended September 19, there was a deficiency of £12,000, but this was the worst period of the year, and had always shown a loss. He wks hopeful that the financial year, ending March 31, would close with a clear sheet. Most of the financial difficulties of the board, ho considered, were due to the increase in the use of private motor cars. t
