The worst places on the Main South road from the foot of Browns Hill to Concord have been attended to. and the men are now engaged on the resurfacing of Lookout Point Hill. The use of sand for blinding seems to have been a success preventing the metal from spreading and generally binding for immediate traffic, the only disadvantage being that, if put on in windy weather before rain, a considerable quantity of sand is blown about. The maintenance work on Bruce street has been completed, the metal having been spread and the surface blinded with sand. The maintenance work on Teigmnouth street has been finished in the same way. The . water tables on Henry and John streets, Burnside Extension, have been cleaned out and the formation re-formed ready for metal. Work is in progress on the piping of the storm water and private drain from Princes street to Kaikorai Stream through the properties of Messrs Seymour, Martin, and Sullivan. A start has been made with the kerbing and channelling of St. Andrew street in concrete, but the bad weather has considerably delayed the completion of the work. The report was adopted.
