In the Sheffield Shield match Victoria, in the first innings, made 316 (Pension! 214). Williams took six wickets for 88 and Grimmett two for 110. South Australia have no wickets down for 25. Ponstord compiled his score in 267 minutes. He hit 22 fours and one six. The Victorian played brill.antly all round the wicket, especially on the on side, and gave only one chance. Williams proved a must destructive bowler, turning the ball several inches both ways. ADELAIDE, December 6. (Received Dec. 6, at 5.5 p.m.) South Australia, in the first innings, has made 334 runs for six wickets (Schneider 69, V. Richardson 137). The weather was cloudy and sultry, and the wicket was good when the game was resumed. Richardson opened very cautiously, but later, in partnership with Schneider, who was stonewalling, he opened out, and the runs came quickly. Schneider gave an excellent display, and broke the back of the Victorian bowling before he was dismissed. He batted for four hours. Richardson then piled on the runs at a great rate, scoring fraely all round the wicket. SYDNEY GRADE MATCHES. A BATCH OF CENTURIES. For Northern District against Wavcrley, Loder made 97 and for Waverley Levy made 113. For Balmain against University, Wheatley scored 104, and for University Hogg made 150. For Western Suburbs against Mosman, Johnston made 158. For St. George against Petersham, Bradman made 110, and Target! 150, not out. Bowling for Gordon against Marrickville, Macartney took four wickets for 40, and Frendin four for 41. For Manley against North Sydney, Gwynne took four for 41. For Paddington against Cumberland, Asher took four for 79. For Waverley against Northern District, O’Connor took six for 121. SMALLER BALL FOR ARGENTINE TOUR. LONDON, December 4, (Received Dec. 4, at 5.5 p.m.) Mr P. F. Warner, at the embarking of the Marlyebone team for Argentina, announced that the small-sized ball would be used throughout the tour.
