CLAIM FOR DAMAGES.
SEQUEL TO COLLISION. MOTOR CYCLIST SUCCEEDS. (Special to Daily Times.) CHRISTCHURCH, November 25. A collision between a large meat van and a motor cycle on the ChristchurchSockburn road on April 9, 1926. resulted ; in a claim for £l2lß 11s 9d in the Supremo Court to-day before Mr Justice Stringer and a jury of 12. Bernard Noel Thomas, of Darfiold, farm manager, sued George Rae Percy, Christchurch, cartago contractor. for the sum stated. Thomas alleged that Percy was driving on his wrong side at an excessive speed, that he was not keeping a proper lookout and that ho did not exercise proper control of his van at the time of, and immediately before, the accident. Thomas described his injuries as a compound fracture of the right tibia, wounds on tho leg about Un long and wounds on tho ankle joint and on the foot. _ Percy stated that he was in his proper side until within 70yds of the scene oi the accident. He pulled out wide to pass a gig, saw the motor cycle_ and turned to the centre of the road again. The motor cycle turned in the same direction. He thought that tho motor cyclist was free of him. but tho motor cycle struck the back of the van. missing the front. Tho jury awarded plaintiff £653 16s od damages, and iudgment was entered accordingly with costs.
