The New Zealahd Shipping’ Company advises that (he Euahine sailed from London on September 21. The Calm sailed last evening for Timaru and Lyttelton to complete loading for Wellington and Wanganui. The Progress sailed last night for Oamaru, Timaru, and Lyttelton to complete loading for Wellington, New Plymouth, and Port Waikato. The Opihi, which arrived here yesterday morning from New Plymouth, is to sail early this morning for Oamaru, Timaru and Lyttelton to complete loading for Wellington, Nelson, and New Plymouth. The Storm has been fixed to load at Dunedin on Friday for Timaru, Lytteton, Wellington, and Wanganui. The Kaiapoi arrived at Dunedin yesterday afternoon from Wellington, and was berthed at the cross. wharf to load a large quantity of general cargo. She is timed to sail tonight for Timaru, Lyttelton, and Auckland. The Kahika was expected to leave Gisborne last night for Lyttelton and Dunedin. She will load here about Friday for Napier and Gisborne. The Shaw, Sayill, and Albion Line steamer Mamari is to sail at 10 a.m,. to-morrow for Lyttelton and Napier to discharge the remainder of her London cargo. The Katoa left Portland at 10 p.m. on Saturday for Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She is due here 6n Friday to discharge and load general cargo. The vessel will sail hence for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Napier, and Auckland. The Kaponga, from Westport, is to leave Lyttelton to-day for Timaru, Oamaru, and Dunedin to discharge the remainder of her coal cargo. She is due here on Friday, and will proceed hence to Bluff to. load timber for Adelaide. The Kurow is expected to leave Auckland to-morrow with general cargo for discharge at Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. An expected arrival at Auckland to-mor-row Is the Union Company’s steamer Waiotapu, from the Pacific Coast. , After discharge at Auckland the vessel will sail for Wellington, Melbourne, and Sydney. The Remuera Is due at Wellington on October 4 from Lyttelton, and will leave the northeVn port on October 8 for Southampton and London, via Pitcairn, Panama, and Curacao. The vessel Is expected at Dunedin to-morrow morning, and Is timed to sail at 5 p.m. to-morrow for Lyttelton, Wellington, and Melbourne. INCOMING VANCOUVER MAIL. Advice received by the Union Company states that the R.M.S. Niagara left Vancouver at noon on Wednesday last for Auckland find Sydney, via ports. She Is due at Honolulu on September 29, at Suva oh October 8, and at Auckland on October 11. THE CANADIAN CRUISER. Messrs H. L. Tapley and Co. advise that the Canadian Cruiser arrived at Panama at 11 a.m. on September 22 from Auckland, and sailed at 11.30 a.m. the following day for New York, Boston, and Montreal. The vessel left Auckland on August 28. MATATUA AT LONDON. The Shaw, Savin, and Albion Company advises that the Matatua arrived at London last Tuesday evening from Wellington. The vessel left the northern port of August 11. WHANGAPE LEAVES SYDNEY. Advice received by tbe Union Company states that the Whangape left Sydney at 3 a.m. on Saturday with general cargo for discharge at Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton, and Timaru. The vessel's freight includes transhipments ex the Mlshi Maru, Hobson’s Bay, Touraine, Maloja, Westphalen, Changte, Calulu, Freiburg, and Ormuz. The Whangape Is due at Bluff on Thursday, and at Dunedin about Saturday. TAMAROA CLEARS CURACAO. The Shaw-Savill Company ia in receipt of cable advice that the Tamaroa, en route from Southampton to Wellington, Lyttelton, and Port Chalmers, cleared Curacao at noon on Thursday last. She is due at Wellington on October 13. MARMATTAN CHARTERED. The steamer Marmattan, 4453 tons, has been chartered to load sugar at Cuba for Auckland and Sydney. She is under time charter to Messrs Andrew Weir and Co. THE CANADIAN COMMANDER. Advice received by the local agents for the Canadian Government Line states that the Canadian Commander, which left Montreal on September 3 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, and Dunedin, arrived at Panama at XI a.m. on September 17, and cleared the canal at 2.30 p.m. on September 18. The vessel is due at Auckland about October 15, and at Dunedin about October 26. ARAWA FROM LIVERPOOL. Now loading In England, the , Shaw, SavlU, and Albion liner Arawa Is scheduled to leave Liverpool on October 12 with passengers for New Zealand and general merchandise for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She Is due at Auckland on November 20. TAINUI AT SOUTHAMPTPON. The Shaw, Savlll, and Albion Company advises that the Tainul arrived at Southampton last Wednesday morning from Wellington. The vessel sailed from Wellington on August 16. THE CITY OF CANTON. The A. and A. Line is in receipt of advice that the City of Canton is scheduled to leave New York to-day with-cargo to discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dusedin. and Portland (Victoria). She is due at Auckland about November 2. HUNTINGDON FROM LIVERPOOL. .Laden with a" cargo from West of England ports the Federal Line steamer Huntingdon is expected to arrive at Auckland on October 4. For further discharge this vessel will then proceed to Wellington, Lyttelton, and Port Chalmers. AWAKUA SEAWORTHY. The Secretary of the Marine Department has been advised .that as a result of tbe survey of the Awarua at Napier, she was deemed seaworthy, the only damage being that caused by H.M.S. Dunedin bumping the vessel. The Awarua was due at Wellington yesterday. PASSENGERS FROM ENGLAND. The Orient liner Orsova arrived at Fremantle from London on September 22 and is due at Sydney on September 30. The P. and O. liner Barrabool is due at Sydney from London, via way ports, to-day. Passengers for New Zealand on both liners will probably connect with the Huddart-Parker steamer ; Ulimaroa, which leaves Sydney on October 1 and is due at Auckland four days later. SUNKEN ROCK NOT LOCATED. Captain J. Rollons, of the Government steamer Tutanekai, reports having on September 19 exhaustively searched for the sunken rock reported to exist at an estimated dieetance of about one mile southward of Dog Island. The search was carried out under sea conditions which would have shown distinctly any shoal carrying up to seven fathoms of water, and it was found that the bottom in the locality in which the rock was reported to exist was clear, and had a uniform depth of 14 fathoms at low water, and that the reported ehoal did not exist. Captain Rollons supplies the following information for the use of vessels when nearing Dog Island: —By keeping Whale Point (south-west point) open of Look-out Joint (of Bluff Hill), Dog Island will be passed at a distance of at least one mile in a depth of from 13 to 14 fathoms of water. lONIC FROM ENGLAND. With passengers, mails, and cargo the Shaw-Savill steamer lonic arrived at Wellington. at 9 a.m. on Thursday last from London and Southampton, via Panama. The lonic left London on August 12 at 6.28 a.m. and arrived at Southampton at 6.54 p.m. on the same day. Clearance was made from Southampton on August 13 and for the first 10 days squally weather was experienced. The lonic arrived at Colon on August 29, and stayed there for the day. From Panama to Pitcairn Island, which was reached at 9 a.m. on September 11, the weather was fine and clear. After leaving Pitcairn moderate breezes were encountered, but on September 16 the wind freshened to a gale, and high seas were shipped fore and aft. Strong gales and fierce squalls were experienced up till Wednesday last. Captain A. E. Jackson retains command of the lonic. The lonic was to sail from Wellington last Monday evening for Auckland to complete discharge. The vessel will leave Auckland on October 6 for loading at Timaru ami Wellington. She is due back at W’ellington on October 13 and will sail from there on October 17 for Auckland to complete loading. The lonic i» fixed to depart finally from Auckland at daybreak on October 23 for Southampton and London, via Panama.

Official advice has been received in New Zealand of the reciprocal recognition of British and Portuguese tonnage certificates.
